It was my imaginery friend... Gravity!
Today we had a good day of school and a great visit to my aunty’s place in the afternoon. So when we returned home just before dinner, I allowed the kids to watch a Pokemon movie. By dinner time the movie wasn’t over so I let them watch and eat at the same time. A treat in our household.
Unfortunately after the movie, the kids were overstimulated and were so hyper. Loud and boisterous, I told them to get ready for bed and it sounded like they kept on playing. Eventually I gave them 10 minutes to clean up their room, brush their teeth and be ready for bed. I even gave them count downs. When the time was up and they were not done cleaning, I walked into the room and picked up everything that was still on the floor and put it all into a bag. At this point Andrew had a melt down. I guess they didn’t think I was serious. I had to explain them the reason I did it. It gets frustrating when I talk to them they ignore me. Then they push the limit and that is what happens. Needless to say, I didn’t have any objections and excuses at bedtime.
I really do not like doing something like that, I am glad to say that I was really calm about it. The problem is if you go back on your word, they just won’t believe you when you tell them about the consequences of their actions. I really don’t like being a meanie! In the same breath, being a softy that I am, I told them that they could earn their toys back. Another reason is that they would be a choir of wales mourning the loss of their toys, I had to calm them down. The deal was that they had to behave and listen and not frustrate the heck out of me! Let’s see what happens…
When do they kids know that you are serious?
