Mother’s Day 2013

We had bacon, eggs, sausages and toast for brunch.  I think Natalie did the most prep.  She made the toast and buttered them and here she is, making  the eggs.  She says that she is too young to unload the dish washer but not too young to cook!

Barbecue Season – Onion Balls

On Sunday we went over to a friends place for a barbeque.  It was great.  We havn’t barbequed at home since we moved here to Ottawa over 2 summers ago and i was thinking, perhaps it is time to get one.  Hum…  I remember in Barrhaven, I was cooking on the bbq all through winter.  But back then we were eating so much more meat.  I wonder…..

My first born is 12

12 means no more eating from the kiddie menu (I think that stopped a few years ago).  Wow, 12 is a big one.  Hormones, going to middle school, pimples, girls…(not sure about that yet.  He didn’t tell us about the new girl in class but Natalie mentioned something…)  Time to volunteer again.  It is going to be a exciting year.    I can remember the day he was born 12 years ago, at the civic hospital, the sun was shinning and it was a cool day and there was a bird on the window sill, it was a great delivery.

Snow in Ottawa in April

This morning I work up to ice pellets blowing against my bedroom window.  Look outside and it is white. Really?  Ice and and snow, all the snow was almost gone.  I thought we were done with all that white stuff and spring was here….

Our new Condo

So part of the new year project, we decided to purchase a condo with a friend to fix and sell.  When we walked in to view it the first time, it was a like a blast from the past. The 60s/70s furniture and all.  There was a stiletto chair that I had saw in Winnipeg at the forks.  I took a picture of it and see it on my computer once in a while.  I said that if we bought this place, it had to be with that chair.  When it came down to negotiations, we asked for all the furniture too.  So I got my chair and more.

Modern Alcohol Test

Came across this video and just couldn’t help sharing it. Do you think you can pass this alcohol test if the breathalyzer test fails? Takes the edge off getting pulled over by the cops!

Natalie’s apology

I came home one evening and the kids were all asleep and found this on my computer.  How can you be upset when they say they are really sorry and ask for forgiveness.

Dr Karyn Gordon

Last night we had the privilege to attend a talk given by Dr Karyn Gordon.  I had never heard of her before.  The elementary schools in the area invited her as a guest speaker so I decided to check her out online to see who she was.  The first thing that popped up on her website was her book about teen years.  I thought to myself why is an elementary school inviting a speaker for parents of kids who aren’t even teens yet.  I decided that there is always something new to learn, so it would be worth my time to listen to her.
