Natalie had a birthday party to go to today and I had not bought a gift. I was planning to just go shopping last night but it was just pouring rain. I really didn’t want to go out in the rain.

I was talking to a friend and she was telling me about a craft she did with her daughter. She was telling me how hard it was for her to find bangles. I thought wow what a cute idea. I had a tons of bangles, so I went on line to find a design. I found a pattern online and am so proud to say that it only took me about half an hour to make this little purse. I had fun and the results were better than I expected.

I havn’t had too much time to work on my crafts and it felt so nice to be able to do a craft and complete and be able to give it away right away. I was so proud of myself.

Andrew has a party to go to tomorrow so I made one for him to give too. Being such an easy craft, I thought it would be really nice for him to help me make it. He help sew the sides on the sewing machine and help stitch the bangles on too.

As a child growing up, looking at magazines and watching TV, there was always so many beautiful people to look at. I would look at the magazines and I secretly thought that it would be great to be a model. Wondering how I could end up in a magazine, I never really looked into it and was not something I actively seeked, just something in the back of my mind. Sometimes, you have to be very careful of what you think about. Whatever you think about, good or bad, it might just happen.

A few months back, I showed my friend Erica who is an editor of a Spanish magazine, about an exercise that she might want to do for herself. She thought it was a great idea and said why don’t we put it into the exercise portion into my magazine, Guia Hispana that is published here in Winnipeg. So the next thing I know, is, I am posing for her with different exercise moves. It was fun and within 8 hours after mentioning it, the pictures were taken and the article was written. Wow, talk about fast.

So I am proud that I am a model and am in the March edition Guia Hispana Magazine here in Manitoba. I am on page 23 and 24, and you can see the magazine and download it here. She is working on expanding her magazine across Canada in the Summer with a new bilingual magazine Vivir En Canada.

Now that it is Spring again, the bicycles are coming out and everyone is on the move. So is Natalie. Last fall, when Kyle took the boys on the little trails, she wanted to go along too but she couldn’t because of her training wheels. So Natalie was determined to ride without training wheels, she kept on asking to ride the bike without training wheels. In the fall, she did it a little and this spring, she is on her own. I guess she is a little stronger than last year and can keep peddling to keep the bike upright.

It is so amazing as she continues on, what the boys can do, she can do better. Matthew didn’t learn to ride a 2 wheeler till he was 7, 2 weeks later Andrew started at age 5 and now Natalie 4 rides without training wheels. It is pretty amazing what you can do when you decide to do it and a little bit of peer pressure. When Matthew was 4, he didn’t even want to ride with training wheels.

My baby is growing up…..

I am currently reading the book, Rich Brother Rich Sister by Emi and Robert Kiyosaki. The book talks about siblings who were took different journeys and their own separate ways and how they become close again later on in life. It includes their life stories including their spiritual journey, opinions on money and on what and why things happened in their lives. The one story that they told really had me thinking and I would love to share it with you.

One day there was man who stood at the side of Niagara Falls with his bicycle. A small crowd gathered as he announced, “I will ride my bicycle across this steel cable stretched to the other side of the falls.”
Oohs and Ahhs came from the crowd.
“How dangerous!” a young woman said.
“Please don’t risk your life.” pleaded another woman.
“You’re nuts,” said an older man. “You’re going to kill yourself.”
“I know I can do it,” said the man as he climbed on his bicycle. soon he was slowly peddling his way across the cable, dangling and swaying just a few feet over the raging falls. One slip and he would be gone forever. The crowd waited breathlessly as he reached the other side, turned his bicycle around, and peddled back. As soon as he was back on land, the crowd rushed forward, many saying, “We knew you could do it. We had faith in you.”
“Should I do it again?” He asked with a big smile.”Sure,” replied the crowd. “We believe in you.”
“Okay,” said the man. “since you now believe in me, who wants to go with me?”
Suddenly the crowd went quiet. People started to squirm. In the misdst of the silence, a few began to leave. Then from the middle of the crowd, a small voice said, “I’ll go with you.” The crowd gasped as a petite young girl stepped forward and volunteered to be his passenger. As the girl climbed into the basket on the front of the bicycle, many people in the crowd grew angry.
“How dare you risk her life?” said one person.
“I’m calling the police,” said another.
slowly the man, the little girl, and the bicycle started out across the falls. The crowd was deathly silent. Everyone took a breath as they reached the other side, turned the bicycle around, and headed back. Once safely on dry land, the crowd let out a loud cheer as they congratulated the young girl for your courage.
“What gave you the courage?” asked the woman of the young girl.
“Weren’t you afraid?” asked another.
“No,” replied the young girl.
“Why not?” asked the woman.
“Because this man is my father,” said the little girl. ” I don’t jut believe in my father, I trust him with my life.”

Most people believe in God, but very few people trust in God. When times get tough, go beyond your belief in God and trust in God!

This story has really touched my central core. It has helped me understand my faith and trust in God. It is a good reminder for me to continue trusting in God in our daily lives.

Last week I saw a poster advertising the “half marathon police run” here in Winnipeg. It had a 2 man relay. I thought, relay, I can do it, it is only 9km. I can train for that in 2 months. So when I made that decision, I went on line to get more information, a friend of mine also agreed to do it with me. Awesome, I was set, unfortunately, when I got on line, it said that registration was full.

I was determined, I kept on looking and found another run that is on the 9th of May, with the option of a 5km or 8km run. I am aiming for the 8km run. If that doesn’t happen, I can do the 5km. Plus I have also decide to do another triathlon this summer. This will really help me with my running portion which I had difficulties in the past.

Since I have been a little sedate over the winter cardio-wise, I decided to start by walking last Friday. On Sunday, I did my first run/walk, it was very painful. Those muscles have not moved in a while. With the encouragement of my friends, I am on my journey to train for a 8km in 7 weeks. How do I plan to do it?

This week I ran 2km, add a km a week and by the end of the 6th week, I will be at 8km, it’ll give me a week to slow down for the run on the 9th. Yes I can do it. Run/walk will work for me. Now I just have to map out the route. I can listen to my iPod with my French and Spanish audios and I am all set! Will keep you posted!

Now that the kids are getting an allowance, they decide to buy things with their “play” money. Much to my displeasure they usually purchase toys (that they do not need)! One day when Kyle and I were out cross country-sking, I asked them if they wanted to buy some second hand cross country skis so that they could try out too. Andrew said no but he wanted a snowboard. Excited that it wasn’t another toy, I went on-line and found the one and only second hand snowboard on sale for $10.

As it was getting warmer, above freezing everyday, I wasn’t too sure whether to purchase it. He really wanted it. I figured that there was still some snow on the ground and the lady would deliver it, and they would have a chance to experience it. She delivered it on Sunday, we went out on the hill on Monday and Tuesday and the kids just loved it. Tuesday night they prayed that there would still be snow on the hill on Wednesday so that Daddy could watch them when he returned that night. So on Wednesday, they went for their last snowboarding experience. Since Kyle had the camera, I wasn’t able to video tape them till he returned.

Now that they have all tired it, we have decided to go on a winter vacation to a resort to learn to snowboard and ski. I think I can handle that!

Here is our end of winter video…

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I love this book. Alison really understands the opposite sex. In making sense of men, she gives me a greater understanding of men in simple terms. Whether we like it or not, men are not like us, they are simple creatures that just want to please us… The information in the book is useful for all of us ladies to know why men do what they do and men to understand why they do what they do. It is a very easy to read book. One of my friends who just started dating, learned a little tip bit from this book. She reconized his behavior so she wasn’t getting frustrated with what her man was saying. She understood him! A must read!

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay ‘them’

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3.. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. ‘An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.’

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

We all need to live life to its fullest each day!!

Worry about nothing, pray about everything!!!
