Make your own Flavoured Pita

I typically buy “Middle East Bakery” Whole Wheat Pitas from the grocery store. They are always fresh and do not have any preservatives. We are fortunate as the bakery is in town and the grocery store gets a fresh supply daily. The price is really reasonable too as it is only 6 for 99cts for the small one.

I love making my own pizzas and usually use the pitas as my base, faster than making my own dough especially in a pinch. We call it “Pita Pizzas” and everyone gets their own personal pizza with their preferred toppings.

They also have the topped pitas which are flavoured and cost $2 for 2. A slight variance to the price of the plain ones. They look so greasy but taste so good. So today after grocery shopping, I decided to make my own flavoured pita. I choose my favourite ingredients and voila, my own flavoured pita, barely took anytime to make either… Pick your own ingredients or use mine as a guideline, change the amounts as needed. It was a yummy lunch. Saved a couple of bucks…

    Ingredients

1/2 tsp curry powder
1/4 tsp cumin
1.4 tsp Tumeric
3 tbsp Lactose free cheese
3 tbsp chopped cilantro

Mix together all the above ingredients and place on top of the pita
Place in oven for about 5-10 mins at 350C or until the cheese melts or depending on how crunchy you like it.
Take out of oven and enjoy!
