Today Matthew came home and announced that he and 3 other friends from Notre Dame High School had won the Ottawa Catholic School Board Math Olympics. I was surprised! What? I vaguely remember signing a permission slip for him to enter the competition.
It was a pleasant surprise. I just never thought anything of it. There were 14 schools in total and most of them had 2 teams per school. They did well.
When he was talking about the experience, he praised one of his teammates as she knew factorials and was able to win it for them. I was very proud of that comment as I know that he understands teamwork!! Wow, that is so important.
