Always wanting to be experience something new, I was excited to find out that there was a chocolate factory in the town of Almonte, 35 minutes from Ottawa. When I found out that they offered free tours on Saturday mornings, I decided that we had to check it out.
So on a cold blistery Saturday morning, we drove out to Almonte to Hummingbird Chocolate Factory. It is a small facility in a strip mall.
There we sampled all their delicious chocolates before their tour started and then we learned all there is to learn about cocoa. Where it comes from, how it is planted to understanding the process of making those delicious 70% chocolate bars. The tour lasted about an hour and we were well educated when we left the facilities.
I highly recommend going out to learn the art of chocolate making and tasting their different unique varieties of chocolate. They have won a few international chocolate awards too. Their chocolate are perfect for those chocolate lovers out there.
