Day 4 Costa Rica Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste

What would a Costa Rican morning be without an early morning swim.  After breakfast at the hotel restuarant, they all jump into the pool for a play before we head out on the road again.

Today we only have a short 2 hour drive to Playa Hermosa so it shouldn’t take too long.

The only thing is, we met some people at the hotel that told us about this place that makes pottery using skills that have been passed down from generations.  Plus it is only 15 minutes drive away from Santa Cruz.  They said that it would be a good place to stop to watch.  So we said why not.

So off for another learning experience at Guaitil. There, they show us how they make their pottery.  There was a group of high school kids from the college in Liberia who were there for a learning hands on experience.

After the experience, we headed on toward Playa Hermosa.  It was a beautiful drive (for once it wasn’t raining or dark outside). Once we checked into the house which was our home for the next 2 weeks, we decided to go down to a restaurant by the beach for lunch.  The timing was right as it stormed while we were there, not unusual for this time of the year, I guess, afternoon showers.  The view from the restaurant was really nice and everyone was itching to get down to the beach.

After the beach, we decided to go to the local grocery store for supplies.  There I found this fruit that I had never seen before and just had to try.  Any guesses?

Smooth Orange skin

Grenadine or Granadilla

It was a little tart and full of seeds, someone told us that we should eat the fruit with the seeds.  I thought it tasted really good.

No day would be complete without a swim (it was only 6ish and the sun had already set),
