Matthew asked to learn to cook

Wow, last night Matthew decided that he wanted to help me in the kitchen. When he was little he would help me with baking cookies and muffins, after all his first big word was “spatula”. It has been a while since he has helped me in the kitchen and he asked to do it last night. What blew me away was his comment “I need to learn to cook sometime”. Grab the opportunity, do it when they want to.

So last night he helped me clean, cut up the veg and cooked them too. He knows how to fry eggs, now he can add another dish to his resume. He was also proud of himself as he also cut up the cilantro and grated the ginger for the steamed fish dish.

It was really nice, we worked well together, he wasn’t in the way and dinner preparation time was reduced. There wasn’t a big mess, he cleaned up as he was doing the preparation. I am so proud of my big guy, he is growing up so fast.
