Matthew has been following the torch across Canada and really wanted to see it when it came to Winnipeg. When it arrived on the 5th of January, there was a huge celebration at the Forks. The weather was perfect but it was a little too late and Kyle and I didn’t really want to fight the crowds in the cold. It left this morning from Minto armories and we promised him that we would take him there for the lighting as it leaves town.
So we wake them up early this morning and we are out of the house at 7am to make the cold trek downtown. We get there in time to watch them light the flame and run down St Matthew’s Avenue. It was the highlight of our day, once in a life time experience?
Here is our little experience with the 2010 Olympics.
- The family awaiting the torch
- Amy, the first torch bearer for the day.
- Manitoba Float
- She is waiting patiently…
- Turning on the gas…
- It is lit!
- They are lighting it.
- There she goes…
- There is the flame..
