I just heard on the radio that if Elvis was alive, he would have been 75 years old today. He was born in the same year as my dad, 1935. I remember my uncle who lived in Malaysia at that time was a huge fan of his music. Today I realized that that was one of my earlier childhood memories, being at my grandparent’s house. I was 7 years old when he died and my uncle telling me about his death.
My uncle was a huge fan of his and I remember him saying that Elvis will never die. We didn’t really believe him when he told us. I guess his music still lives on. It is funny the things we remember. My uncle too has passed on and I have many different memories of him. This has made me realize that I had many happy memories of our annual visit to my grandparent’s house in Ipoh, Malaysia, my uncle lived with them. We didn’t travel too much as children as my dad wanted to make sure we could remember our trips. It is funny, I do remember many trips there, during the Chinese New Year season since I was an infant. That was the only time my dad took holidays plus it was a happy time during Chinese New Year season. We went out for dinner and visited friends and family. It was always a good.
Oops I digress, this is supposed to be about Elvis Presley. I still love his music and it still lives on… Happy Birthday Elvis.
