Soccer Mum
Wow I am now a fall soccer mum. It is a little more serious soccer here in Warner Robins compared to the league in Winnipeg. They started practices in twice a week in August. Now in September they still have their two practices a week plus a game once a week.
I am getting to know some of the parents and it is fun. So families from Mexico too, so I am learning some Spanish! As usual, I bring lots of snacks for my kids as they are always hungry. So funny, the other kids know about my snack basket so they ask me for food when practice is done. Now I just pack extra fruit for the other kids… sounds like my mum’s house when we were growing up. All the neighbourhood kids hung out at my mum’s house, the smallest house on the street.
We are usually at the field from 4:45 till 7pm, with the 3 kids having different practice times. There are many kids who have siblings so they kids have someone to play with before and after practice. There is also a playground on the grounds so after practice, they usually have a little bit of time to play there.
Soccer nights are also swim nights. After practice, we head straight to the pool to cool off, so glad we have that opportunity. Of course by that time, it is already dark and we are the only ones in the pool!!
The kids are getting their exercise and physical education segment of schooling. It is fun and I just make sure they are hydrated and fed! Mum’s job is never done!!
