Ants in Georgia
We have been told that you have to fumigate once a month here in the warm weather against bugs. So here in the apartments that is what happens. Unfortunately that doesn’t include ants. Here is our experience…
We get the odd ant here and there in the bathroom and around the front door. We kill them and it is not a big deal. They seem to like the moisture, Kyle says that they need to drink (the bathroom is on an inside wall). When we had two days of rain, we found a little trail of ants in our bedroom coming out of a little hole in the ceiling. I guess they didn’t like the rain and were looking for drier place. Kyle stuffed a little piece of paper in the ceiling and that helped. People have since told us to use toothpaste and it dries and is like putty. Will have to try that next time.
Well, yesterday, we put the garbage at the front door but forgot to take it to the garbage place. Oops the next day, there was a trail of thousands of ants crawling into the bag. It was sealed. They must have smelled something or made a little hole. It was crazy, we found all the spots in our walls that they came in through. The bag went out immediately and we vacuumed up the ants. It was so amazing. After removing the bag, the ants still kept coming. I guess the ants that were here were not able to send a message back to say that the garbage was gone. For the next few hours, we were vacuuming the ants. Finally they figured out that there was no more goodies. What an experience, something we will never do again. I always wondered why there were no ants in the kitchen, it too is on an inside wall, the ants come in through the holes on the outside wall. Actually it is a good thing there are no ants in the kitchen. I don’t think I could handle that!
All part of the experience for when we move to Costa Rica. All good….
