Day 3 Made it to Oakdale WI, off to Zion, IL

Another beautiful day of driving to Oakdale, WI.  The campground is great and we just missed a huge thundershower that went through.  They said that had thunder and lighting but no hale.  Good thing we missed it.

After we left Ashby, we headed to the outlet at Albertsville.  We have driven down to Minneapolis from Winnipeg and I can’t believe that we had never been there.  There were so many stores there that it was so overwhelming.  I was so happy to find myself a waterproof and breathable rain coat from Columbia for only US$28.  What a deal.  I guess you eventually get a good deal after waiting 2+ years…

We left the mall early enough to miss the Minneapolis rush hour.  Last time we drove through, we were stuck in traffic for over an hour.

There were no mosquitoes here either.  So nice to be able to be outside tenting and not fighting with the mosquitoes.  As we arrived at the campground after 7pm, we had to rush to make dinner and finish before it got dark, I guess that is the time they come out.

Grangers LLC campground is really nice too.  I had a shower this morning and the bathrooms were super clean.  So refreshing…  After bacon, eggs and hashbrowns for breakfast we are on the road again to Zion in Illinois State park.  We are really looking forward to it.  The drive today will only be about 328km so we should be there around lunch time.  The big breakfast will hopefully sustain us till then plus all the snacks….

It is so cool to just cook outside and just hang out outside.  Things are just so simple.  The only thing I am still getting used to is doing grocery shopping for one day.  We went to the Super Wal-Mart, and had to think before we bought stuff and to limit ourselves.  So used to doing shopping for the week.  Our little car fridge can only hold so much and it only runs when the van is running.

So, as recommended by grandma, we bought some Wisconsin Cheese.  We are having it for lunch today with crackers today.  Supposed to good.

Kyle is all packed now, off to Zion.  I do hope the weather is beautiful there so we can enjoy Illinois State park.
