Day 2 of our trip south
So we made it to Ashby, MN in 8 hours for 470km drive. No we were not driving slow, we were managed to stop every hour. Of course that wasn’t in the plan, but somehow with 3 little people, we have to be a little flexible.
First of all we left about 10:15 am, got gas, got money and we were off. We spent an hour at the US/Canadian border which went smoothly. As mentioned before the van was so full, the customs officer had to go over to the passenger side of the van to check to make sure we had 3 kids in the back. He was really nice, I kinda expected him to search the whole van. I guess it would have been too much work!!
We stopped in Grand Forks an hour later for lunch and then stopped another hour later in Fargo for groceries. I am proud to add that Natalie ate her first 3″subway sub at lunch today. At first she wouldn’t do it but she liked the taste of the bread and I knew she would eat the cold meat so after a little talk to, she ate it.
So we arrived in Prairie Cove Campground at 6pm just in time to make dinner. This place is so beautiful just off I94 exit 77. View of the lake and rolling hills and an awesome playground. Keeps the kids busy. They also have good internet connection so we were able to call the parents this morning.
The kids just ate and ate all the way down. Especially from the goodie bag that grandma sent. Filled with snacks and books. Kept them busy for one day, today will be a shorter drive.
Tenting is fun. We have a four man tent, good thing the kids are still so little we were able to squeeze everyone in. When they grow, we will need something bigger. Or two tents. They slept well, so did we until the little bit of rain that fell for about 5 minutes. woke us up but we went right back to sleep, and the tent was just a tiny bit wet.
So we are off to Oakdale , WI, on the road again…
