Never Too Young
Natalie has been going to Catholic religion classes for a year now. She is learning about God and the Church. Being so young she had to overcome her shyness about being in a class setting. My mother took her to her first class and stayed in the class with her. I took her to her next and just assume parent were not allowed to stay and just left and she did ok. Ignorance is bliss!
Today was her last day and she has learnt lots. Being in a classroom setting with the teacher and the props and other kids, she has a better understanding of what happens around church. Belonging to a church is important from my point of view. They learn moral teachings and learn that there is unconditional love. That is so important. We as humans can’t help it but do not always give love willingly, so knowing that God loves us no matter what is pretty important. They learn to understand that they are important no matter what. This is great for their self esteem and as they grow up they will be more confident kids. There is alot of good teachings in the bible if you take the time to read it.
I have heard that people say that they want their children to decide on their own religion when they grow up. How will they know what to choose if they don’t know what is out there. Give them a chance to learn while they are young. They can make a better choice if they know what they are choosing from. Let them learn about other religions too, then give them the educated choice.
