First Holy Communion
Matthew celebrated his first Holy Communion today. It is the colloquial name for a person’s first reception of the sacrament of the Eucharist. The Eucharist is one of the central focuses of the Roman Catholic Church. It was proud day for me as a mum, my child is experiencing his understanding of God, his faith and the church. As he learns more, I too learn along side.
It is amazing what they learn and retain. He understands the different feast days and names of the items used in the church. He always asks and if I don’t know the answer, we talk to the priest of the decon. Kids are always cruious, give them answers and they will thirst for more. I am really proud of my Matthew and I look forward to our religious journey together as we both learn more about God and his wonderful life here with us. There is so much to learn from the church and their teachings.
